My top 3 favorite comedy movies

3. Dumb and Dumber- This movie made me fall in love with Jim Carrey. But this movie wouldn’t have been as funny without Jeff Daniels. (Lloyds best friend Harry) Dumb and Dumber was written and directed by the Farrelly brothers. This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

2. Waterboy-  Adam Sandler is hilarious in this movie. I love the concept of this movie, a “loser” gets revenge on the people who treated him so poorly. I’d have to say that this scene is my favorite.

1. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy-  This is my all time favorite comedy movie. I can watch this movie everyday and still laugh at the stupidity of Will Ferrell.  I am very excited for the sequel coming out in 2013.  This is my favorite scene from this movie.

My top 3 favorite Christmas songs

My top 3 favorite Christmas songs:
I know that we haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving yet, but for some reason I am super excited for Christmas this year. First comes the cold weather and then comes the Holliday music. I hope I can spread a little early Christmas spirit!

3. The Grinch Theme song
This song was originally written and composed for the 1966 cartoon special How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The lyrics were written by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, the music was composed by Albert Hague, and the song was performed by Thurl Ravenscroft. I love the movie, but especially love the theme song!

 2.  'Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!' By: Dean Martin
Since we don’t get a ton of snow in the Gaston County area I use this song as a type of “rain dance” but obviously for snow! The song was written by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne in 1945 on one of the hottest July days recorded in Hollywood. The love tune never once mentions Christmas albeit the seasonal lyrics and holiday ambiance.

1.       'Have a Holly Jolly Christmas' By: Burl Ives
This song is my all-time favorite. It always puts me in a great mood and helps me through the hectic times during the Holliday season. This Christmas song was written by American songwriter Johnny Marks, who wrote other contemporary Christmas hits such as 'Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,' 'I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day' and 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.'

My top 3 favorite scary movies

My top 3 favorite scary movies
Since Halloween is just around the corner I’m going to talk about my top three favorite scary movies. Number 3 on my list is A Nightmare on Elm Street. This movie gives me the willies! The fact that this serial killer has claws is scary enough, but the fact that he kills you in your dreams freaks me out. To this day I still get chill bumps when I hear the song “1, 2 Freddy's Coming For You 3, 4 Better Lock the Door…” The second movie on my list is Poltergeist. This movie had me “hearing” odd sounds around the house for weeks. The movie is about a haunted house that scares the living daylights out of a suburban family. The scariest part of the movie is when the house “kidnaps” the daughter. Number one on my list is the ORIGNIAL scary movie Psycho. Alfred Hitchcock is a genius; he didn’t need special effects or blood and guts. He used great cinematography and spooky music to make one of the greatest movies (Both scary and suspenseful) that I’ve ever seen. I hope you enjoyed my list and have a wonderful Halloween. BOO!

Breaking Bad

 Breaking Bad Season 5

Breaking Bad is an Emmy award winning TV series. The show is about a high school science teacher (Walter White) that developed lung cancer. In order to have to the funds for his treatment he starts cooking meth. It is currently in its 5th and final season and it is getting crazier than ever. I don’t want to spoil the series with details but Walter White gets involved with some shady characters. Walter White has transformed into someone totally different. This show is one of the best shows I’ve seen. It includes great cinematography, production, depth, storyline twists and more. I give Breaking Bad two thumbs up! After you watch the first couple episodes you get “hooked”, trust me.

Cruel Summer album review

In today’s blog I will be reviewing the G.O.O.D music compilation album Cruel Summer. First of all I’d like to state that I am a big fan of Kanye West’s production skills. This new album is not a Kanye West album. It is a compilation of all the G.O.O.D music artists plus more. This album is full of “goofy” punch lines and hot beats. The lyrics are decent, and offer some depth. But my favorite thing about this album is the production work. As a broadcasting student I can appreciate the time and effort put into the overall “sound” of this album. It offers hardcore rap, hip-hop, R&B, and reggae. I believe this album is worth buying if you like Kanye’s style. This is my opinion, everybody’s got one.

Here is the track/artist list:
01 – “To The World” – Kanye West feat. R. Kelly & Teyana Taylor [Prod. by Pop & Oak. Co: Hudson Mohawke, Million $ Mano, Ken Lewis, Travi$ Scott & Anthony Kilhoffer]

Lawless Movie Review

I will give a short review of the new movie Lawless in today’s blog. First of all I will confess I am a huge Shia LaBeouf fan. I loved the movie Holes and Mr. Labeouf played an amazing role in that movie. The movie Lawless is based on Matt Bondurant's 2008 novel The Wettest County in the World about his grandfather and great-uncles in Prohibition-era Franklin County, Virginia. I am from the south and I’ve always found the Prohibition era interesting. This movie has a lot to offer from “country style” fights to “Chicago gangster” Tommy gun fights with a love story added for an interesting twist. This is a movie that you can see with your “bros” but you can also bring your “special friend” because of the depth. The ending of this movie is intense but has a since of irony too it as well. I obviously can’t give details because I don’t want to ruin it for you. But I certainly recommend spending the money to see this in the theaters.

Since I did little “new” production work over the summer my first blog will be an album review. The album I will be reviewing is Frank Oceans “Channel Orange”. The first time I heard Frank Ocean in a song was “No Church In The Wild” off of Jay-Z and Kayne’s album “Watch The Throne”. I remember asking a buddy of mine “Who is that singing?” His voice was intoxicating. I didn’t know what it was about his style but I loved it.

Fast forward a year later. “Channel Orange” Is released. This CD offers hip hop and R&B. Frank Ocean takes you through his life of love and loss. You feel his pain, you feel his joy.  One of my favorite songs is “Pyramids”. This 9 minute song is like a story. The first time I listened to this song I thought it was at least 3 different songs. This CD has a lot to offer musically and spiritually.
